About Terramar Organics

Terramar Organics is an online and mail order clothing company. We specialise in the sale of Organic and Fair Trade clothing. Our aim is to develop stylish everyday clothing that everyone has and needs starting with the basics: Shirts, and T-Shirts. If you have a "wish list" contact us and help us to develop the future of organic clothing.

Terramar Organics is unique in the UK. We sell fully certified sustainable textile products.

The certification for sustainable textile products is based on two main principles: Firstly, all fibres should be natural and must be grown in an organic way, based on the production standards which are laid down in the EC-Regulation 2092/91.

Secondly, the whole production process should be taken into account. Every process-step of textile production (spinning, weaving, washing, etc) must meet certain criteria and for every step is laid down which processing aids may (not) be used, in order to gain as much environmental profit as possible.

Our Motivation

To design and sell quality clothing that doesn't cost the earth. To be part of the local economy by using, where possible, local resources and talent. And to promote sustainable living through lifestyle choice - without compromising on style.

We aim to minimise exploitation of natural resources where ever possible, both in our office and in production.

We founded Terramar because we believe that things should be made to last a little bit longer, should be well designed, stylish and, above all, sustainable.

The exploitation of labour in the clothing industry is a significant factor in conventional production. We do not source any of our clothing from factories that use sweatshop practices or exploit their labour.

Our Base

The North East of Scotland, Aberdeen. Where the sun never stops shining. No honestly, it really is one of the most beautiful parts of the UK.

Terramar Organics was founded by two brothers Peter and Tom Marx

Pete...is a graduate of Aberdeen University, where he studied Law. A keen climber, he can be found with geo-Benny and ctrl-alt-delete Robin attempting to conquer the remotest (and wettest) peaks Scotland has to offer. The worse the weather, the better the climb.

He has also been spotted at Everest Base camp, Lhasa, Goa. Annapurna sanctuary and swimming at at 5000 metres in Gokyo lakes (yes, a tad chilly, but very refreshing!).

Tom...is a graduate of Stirling University (one corner of Scotlands UFO triangle), where he studied Politics.

On graduating he decided to live first in Norway and then Germany. Although very fond of Germany he currently lives in Scotland where there are "more mountains, more sea" (he lived in Niedersachsen).

An outdoor fanatic, he would go out more if only it would stop raining and the trains would run on time (like they do in Germany.)

Thanks

Thanks to all who have helped and inspired us to establish and develop Terramar into what it is today.

Special thanks to our models and, finally, we can't not name check our very own tame techy: going by the name of R.P. Berger, he performs system critical miracles, if that makes sense.

As always, if you have any questions or suggestions about content, products or links we'd love to hear from you. All feedback is gratefully received.
