Oscars and Razzies 2007 results

The (Oscar) winners and Razzie (losers).

The Razzies:

The Golden Raspberry Award Foundation voters had their work cut out choosing between the horrors of cinema from 2006. The ceremony was dedicated to the star of the Rocky franchise, Sylvester Stallone (himself a winner of 10 Golden Raspberrys).

Films in the running included "Basic Instinct 2" (aka: Basically, it Stinks, Too). The Sharon Stone who-dunnit (who cares, ed!) picked up an award busting four Razzies; Stone was awarded Worst Actress 2006, while the film took honours for Worst Prequel or Sequel, Worst Picture and Worst Screenplay.

Other winners included Robin Williams for RV in the newest Razzie category of Worst Excuse for Family Entertainment. Worst Director went to M Night Shyamalan for Lady in the Water, who also earned himself Worst Supporting Actor award by casting himself in a pivotal role. While Carmen Electra took Worst Supporting Actress for Date Movie and Scary Movie 4. Worst Remake or Rip-Off went to 'Little Man' whose Shawn and Marlon Wayans were jointly named as Worst Actor and Worst Screen Couple.

The shoddy Wicker Man remake starring Nicholas Cage in a bear suit narrowly avoided further humiliation after receiving nominations in multiple categories.

 

The Oscars:

Martin Scorsese finally collected a Best Director statuette for The Departed which was also named Best Film of the year. Forest Whitaker collected Best Actor for The Last King of Scotland while Dame Helen Mirren (from now on to be known as "The Queen") picked up Best Actress for her role as the queen in The Queen. Mexican fairytale Pan's Labyrinth was another big winner while the Al Gore film An Inconvenient Truth won best documentary.
